What actually decides which one you need is the shape of your staircase, not the word you use for the lift.
Which type do your stairs need?
- Straight stair lift — for one unbroken flight with no turn or landing. The quickest and least expensive option, because the rail is a stock section cut to length.
- Curved stair lift — for a turn, a bend, an intermediate landing or a spiral. The rail is custom-fabricated to your staircase, so it costs more and takes longer to arrive.
- Outdoor stair lift — for porch steps, deck stairs or a walkout basement, built with weather-rated components.
- Commercial stair lift — commercial-rated units for businesses and public buildings.
