Residential Outdoor Elevators
SHC Outlook Outdoor Elevator
The Outlook is Staying Home Corporation’s outdoor lift/elevator — built to carry you between ground level and a raised deck, porch, or elevated main floor, outside the house, in all four seasons. The car is a generous 42″ x 41″ (11.96 square feet), rated for 500 pounds, and travels up to 21 feet with 2-stop or 3-stop configurations available. That makes it a natural fit for the raised and stilt-style homes around Midwest lakes — SHC photographs the Outlook at lakefront properties for a reason — as well as any home where the practical way in is a tall flight of exterior stairs.

Like every Staying Home product, the Outlook is battery powered: it runs on its own batteries (24VDC operating power) while a simple 120-volt, 2-amp supply keeps them charged, so an evening storm that knocks out the neighborhood power doesn’t strand you downstairs. The drive is SHC’s proven dual winding 1/4″ cable drum system, and the safety package includes a slack cable brake, final limit switch, safety pan, landing interlocks, and an emergency stop — with simple constant-pressure controls that move the car only while you hold the button. It’s designed and built in the USA at SHC’s factory in Harrisonville, Missouri, just south of Kansas City.
Outdoor equipment lives a harder life than indoor equipment — sun, rain, ice, and temperature swings all take their toll — which is why who installs and services it matters as much as what you buy. Home Accessibility Solutions is a family-owned company, and our installers are licensed elevator mechanics with factory training. The same people who look at your deck, your footings, and your electrical at the free consultation are the ones who install your Outlook and keep it running for years afterward. If you’re weighing an outdoor elevator against a vertical platform lift or an outdoor stair lift, ask us — we install all three and we’ll tell you straight which one actually fits your home and your budget.
Model overview
Why choose the Staying Home Outlook Outdoor Elevator
The Staying Home Outlook is an outdoor elevator built to live outside year-round. It carries you between ground level and a raised deck, porch, or elevated main floor — through sun, rain, ice, and all four seasons. What sets it apart is battery power: the lift runs on its own batteries, kept charged by a simple plug-in supply, so a storm that knocks out the neighborhood power will not strand you downstairs. The roomy car is rated for 500 pounds and travels up to 21 feet.
The Outlook comes as a 2-stop lift — ground level up to one deck or floor — and a 3-stop version is available for taller homes, such as ground, main deck, and upper deck. If running power to the lift is difficult, the batteries can be charged by a solar-powered charger instead of the standard plug-in. The car is a generous 42 by 41 inches, one of the largest in its class, and it is a natural fit for raised and stilt-style lake homes or any house with a tall flight of outdoor stairs.
Runs Through Power Outages
The Outlook is battery powered. It runs on its own 24-volt batteries, and a simple 120-volt, 2-amp plug-in supply keeps them charged. That means an evening storm that knocks out the neighborhood power does not strand you downstairs — the lift keeps working. Where running power to the lift is difficult, a solar-powered charger is available instead of the standard plug-in. See it on the manufacturer’s site →
A Proven Cable Drum Drive
The Outlook uses Staying Home’s proven dual winding quarter-inch cable drum drive system. It gives a smooth ride between stops at a calm 15 feet per minute — a pace that feels steady and safe outdoors. And if a cable ever went slack, the slack cable brake is there to stop the car.
Safety at Every Landing
Every Outlook comes with a full safety package: a slack cable brake, a final limit switch, a safety pan under the car, landing interlocks at every stop, and an emergency stop. The controls are constant pressure — the car moves only while you hold the button — so it stops the moment you let go.
Built to Live Outside
Outdoor equipment lives a harder life than indoor equipment — sun, rain, ice, and big temperature swings all take their toll. The Outlook is built to work outside year-round, in all four seasons. SHC photographs it at lakefront properties for a reason: it is made for the tall entry stairs on raised and stilt-style Midwest homes.
Made Just Up the Road
The Outlook is designed and built in the USA at Staying Home Corporation’s factory in Harrisonville, Missouri, just south of Kansas City. That matters for an outdoor elevator: the factory that built your lift is a few hours from Wichita, and our installers are factory trained, so answers stay close to home.
Covered Twice After Install
Staying Home Corporation backs the Outlook with its manufacturer’s limited warranty — the exact written terms come with the owner’s manual, and we include them word-for-word in your written quote before you sign anything. On top of that, every installation carries our 6-month workmanship warranty: if our work was not done right, we come back and fix it at no cost to you — unless the issue was an act of God, user error, or misuse of the machine.

Manufacturer warranty
Staying Home Corporation backs the Outlook with its manufacturer’s limited warranty; SHC delivers the exact written warranty terms with the unit’s owner’s manual, and we include them word-for-word in your written quote before you sign anything. For reference, SHC’s other battery-powered lifts carry parts-only limited warranties (typically 3 years drive train, 2 years parts, 1 year batteries) — ask us for the current Outlook terms.
Our workmanship warranty
Every installation also carries our 6-month workmanship warranty, on top of the manufacturer’s warranty. If our installation needs an adjustment, we come back and make it right at no cost to you. We ask clients to allow five to ten business days for a return trip, though it is often much sooner. The warranty covers our workmanship; it does not cover acts of God, user error, or misuse of the equipment.
